Ronaldo Selected in Portugal Crucial Playoff ( Teams Review )

After some nervy matches, Portugal has finally entered the final round of qualifying. A straightforward Group One victory over Malta saw Portugal given a final chance to prove them worthy of a trip to South Africa but how ready are they?

Despite an injury to Cristiano Ronaldo, the talisman forward had been included in the Portugal squad to face Bosnia-Herzegovina. Despite facing a race against time to be fit for the two games on 14 and 18 Nov, with his club doctors certifying the player out of action for  at least two more weeks, the last thing anyone at Real Madrid wants to see, is Ronaldo trudging onto the field as a substitute.

Ronaldo has missed Madrid’s last eight matches after suffering an injury with Marseilles on 30 Sept, and then aggravating it while playing for Portugal in their South Africa 2010 qualifier against Hungary on 10 Oct. however, Portugal coach Carlos Queiroz revealed that the injury would not stop him from naming Ronaldo in his 23-man squad, so important is the former Man United man to his country.

Likewise, Valencia full-back Miguel, Wolfsburg centre-back Ricardo Costa and Werder Bremen strike Hugo Almeida return to the squad.
